Wednesday: 8/23

Objectives:

1. Hello, Procedures & Expectations

2. Classroom protocol, materials distribution, computer assignments, Zoo School Website, handbook.

3. ID Tags

4. Begin Zoo Map Study (LOG): What's at the ZOO? Identify each organism (common name), native habitat, information signs, etc. &classify using your previously learned biology (Phylum & Class where possible). LOG (All information is to be neat and well organized.) Rotate down list as each region is completed.

5. Organize a schedule for Keeper talks: LOG all info gained from talk. GET KEEPER NAME & RESPONSIBILITIES. (Handout)

6. Collect attendance/weather data for 15 minutes

7. Return to classt: (Classroom) 2:50

1. Read p. 1-16 (Miller/Harley) LOG

2. Organize a schedule for keeper talks

3. Read Handbook and complete forms (handouts)

Homework Statistics:

1. Read Chapter 1 Statistics (Bluman): think about chapter in relation to the data that you are collecting.

2. Do p. 23 # 1,5,6 (Due )

3. Do p. 24 # 9,11,12,14,15,16 and p. 25 #21 (Due )

1. Discuss Zoo Map Project

2. Zoo Safety Information (12:45 Speaker - Tim Blubaugh)

3. Continue Mapping Exercise and attendance data collection

4. Computer Lesson: server folders & Mac functions

Homework:

1. Read p. 1-16 (Miller/Harley) LOG

2. Reorganize schedule for keeper talks/shows

Homework Statistics:

1. Read Chapter 1 (Bluman): think about chapter in relation to the data that you are collecting.

2. Do p. 23 # 1,5,6 (Due)

3. Do p. 24 # 9,11,12,14,15,16 and p. 25 #21 (Due )

1. Zoo Safety Review

2. Keeper Talks: Find and Listen to keeper talks- record information in your LOG. LISTEN!!!

3. Continue Map Exercise and collecting data.

4. Discuss data

5. Spreadsheets: attendance data

Homework:

1. One page write up sharing the information that you discovered related to the Region in which you began collecting information on Wednesday. Write up should read like an informative newspaper article complete with Title and your Name. (Neat, clean, accurate, proper format.)
