PATHWISE AND PRAXIS

The Pathwise Program is used to train mentors to work with Entry Year Teachers and prepare them for Praxis III.

Praxis III is a classroom performance assessment for beginning teachers that comprises a system for assessing the skills of beginning teachers in their own classroom settings.

Class Profile Form (PDF) - This form is completed by the Entry Year Teacher Candidate, prior to the Praxis III observation, to provide the Praxis III Assessor with a description of the class, special needs of students and the instructional environment.

Instruction Profile Form (PDF) - This form is completed by the Entry Year Teacher candidate, prior to the Praxis III observation, to provide the Praxis III Assessor with a description of the plan for the lesson.

Preobservation Interview Form (PDF) - This form is completed by the Praxis III Assessor during the pre-observation interview. This interview provides an opportunity for the EYT to discuss the plan of the lesson and also allows the Praxis III Assessor an opportunity to probe about the lesson plan and the Entry Year Teacher candidate's rational for choices made.

Classroom Observation Record Form (PDF) - This form is completed by the Praxis III Assessor during the classroom observation. The Praxis III Assessor records notes about the observed lesson.

Postobservation Interview Form (PDF) - This form is completed by the Praxis III Assessor during the post-observation interview. This interview provides an opportunity for the Entry Year Teacher candidate to reflect on his or her lesson and also allows the Praxis III Assessor an opportunity to probe for additional information and understanding about the observed lesson.

Assesessment Confirmation Form (PDF) - This form is completed by the Entry Year Teacher candidate and the Praxis III Assessor after the postobservation interview to confirm that the assessemtn took place according to established Praxis III procedures.
